Gravitas is a game that shows up a lot on our lists, and for good reason! You have over 30 puzzles and depending on how fast you can complete these puzzles, you have anywhere from 2-5 hours of gameplay considering that it’s free and supports Co-op, DYO is a great option to look into. If you play it single-player or multiplayer you won’t be dealing with any enemies or time-based puzzles so the game is more of a relaxing type. The game is overall pretty short and offers just over 15 puzzles but in all honesty, the experience you get is very unique and if you like puzzle games or games that are not what you usually would expect, Frame of Mind is something I highly recommend.ĭYO is not only a great single-player puzzle platforming game but it is also a great split/screen couch co-op puzzle platforming game.ĭYO has you playing as a minotaur trying to make your way out of a labyrinth and I wanna stress that the game is much more enjoyable and utilizes more unique gameplay aspects when playing with another person. Not only does the two-tone look to the game kind of trip you up when playing, but the game evolves in a way and it just offers such a unique gameplay style that I really can’t compare it to anything else. If you are looking for a puzzle game or even a game in general, that looks and feels unlike any other, then I think Frame of Mind is what you are looking for.įrame of Mind places you in an environment that is constantly changing and defies a lot of what you think is the logical answer when solving puzzles. So, with that being said, here is our list of the Best Free Puzzle Games on Steam Frame of Mind Now, I do want to say that a lot of these games on this list are puzzle platformers but that definitely does not take away from their puzzles. Whether you are new to puzzle games or you play puzzle games all the time, this list features some really solid options that I think everyone can enjoy. If you haven’t had the chance to play a great puzzle game, then this video could be a starting point for you. We’ll see what kind of games make the cut starting on May 19, so if any of this sounds interesting to you - and seriously, play Baba is You it’s so weird and fun - then bookmark it now and head over on Thursday, May 19 and see for yourself what savings await you for some really fun games. If you have ever had the chance to play some of the greatest puzzle games like Little Nightmares, Inside, portal, The Witness, and so many others, then you’re most likely a puzzle game junky now. Man, if the four day Steam Cerebral Puzzle Showcase gets just one player t0 try Baba is You, it will have been a smashing success as far as I’m concerned. Then again, sometimes you just want a game like Baba is You, a weird puzzler that doesn’t try and make you immediately grapple with immersive storytelling. Then again, a lot of folks count Portal as a puzzle/action adventure hybrid. And there’s games like Monument Valley which exist strictly on the mobile market and are designed for it - excellent games that players will likely only get to play on PC via emulators. Sometimes games like Tunic combat this by sort of fusing their puzzle elements to an action/RPG chassis, which can work surprisingly well. Some of them are basically just what the name on the tin indicates - games like Tetris or Bejeweled where all you do is solve puzzles, are a staple of the mobile market and as a result aren’t treated with the same consideration as, say, action or shooter games. Puzzle games, especially in video gaming circles, don’t always get a lot of respect. It’s a really broad subgenre with a lot of variety and I’m very curious to see how the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase chooses to curate the games it offers us. Steam already has a fairly well populated puzzle category, with games ranging from We Were Here Forever which straddles that aforementioned puzzle/ARPG line - it’s the latest in a series, and even adds in some roguelike elements - to PopCap standby Chuzzle, which kind of has to be seen to be believed. The Showcase was created especially to cater to both players who love puzzle games and people who really haven’t had much experience with them to find out if they can get into the swing of this type of gameplay. There are a lot of really engaging and fun puzzlers, ranging from quirky indie hits to lavish fusions of genres and styles, available within the puzzle game subgenre, and coming up from May 19 to May 23, we’ll all have a chance to check out Steam’s best offerings with the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase.
